Big Trouble

BIRTHDAY GIRL
She started out her day with a couple favorites. Pounding on the keyboard, and pillow time with Ephraim.
Ephraim was a key helper in opening her -left over Christmas/Birthday gifts.
The joy of getting messy with out her mother wiping everything up the moment after it happens.
The mid-day (I actually look cared for, and dressed shot)
No doubt a child invented the grand idea of a never ending, sticky, delicious treat on a stick, that is so big it barely fits in the mouth.
My Little Lady turned 1 on February 13th. It was a wild weekend with Adam's birthday the day before, Valentines the day after, and lots of stake conference nestled in between. But she voiced no complaints and throughly enjoyed the carrot cake her dad made for her and a sucker that was sent in the mail from Grandma. Here's a hit list of where she's at for ol' history sake.
*She doesn't walk unless being held by the hand. Ephraim loves leading/dragging her around, and she likes it too....until she wipes out.
*As far as wipe outs go...this girl is toughing up, and I like it. We hold a fairly regular "gymnastics" class at home with the couch cushions and jumping around and she climbs all over them, flops off, bonks her head, rolls over, giggles, and climbs back on again.
*Her favorite place is Ephraim's bed, where she climbs on and he bounces her around with his jumping.
*She LOVES her big brother!!! She follows him everywhere, and if anyone can really get this girl to laugh its him.
*I can't remember what Ephraim was super into at this age, cept the broom, and mop. Emeri hasn't shown much interest in those, but she loves books. And with her perfected scoot, she'll grab a couple books and scoot down the hallway with them in hand for her mommy to read to her.
*She has her two bottom teeth, and is just around the corner from breaking through her upper front teeth.
*Orange is her favorite fruit
*She's newly discovered the joy of dripping milk from her bottle all over the ground, and rubbing it in.
*She discovered at a much younger age than Ephraim how to escape the pew trap at church. Yesterday all the sudden she was 3 rows back. Sneaky lil' thing!
*She has in the past few weeks developed a much more particular attitude about what she wants etc. Food and how its fed to her runs at the top of that list, but along with it are having the remote to play with, getting to pound on the computer keyboard, and turning on and off the T.V.
All in all she is an absolute JOY to have around and we ADORE our little Emeri. Happy Birthday darling. You grew up all too fast!

We're doing it!
So this is day 3 of potty training, and thus far I haven't attempted to pull out any hair or take out unruly amounts of frustration on Ephraim. We've had plenty of accidents, but its obvious the boy is learning what "hold it" means. And I have full hope that in the near future that concept will be rooted deeply enough to take effect BEFORE any "mee mee" escapes. We did have a joint cleaning party of his Percy underwear that got a little mal-treated, which Ephraim hated, and will hopefully keep that accident from happening again.
Best news of it all is I still ADORE this lil' guy. I said my feet were cold this morning and I wanted to wear my slippers. To which he said he wanted his slippers too. Funny I thought...You mean the slippers you kicked and screamed about when mommy tried to put them on you before? Hmmmm Ok. So Thank You Grandma Wadsworth for the slippers that are just now being appreciated.
Emeri's birthday is coming up in just over a week and she's the cutest ragga-muffin ever! Her hair is 98% of the time EVERYWHERE. I told Adam last night that her hair makes me think of this dude.
To which Adam strongly disagreed. Granted this lil bat/rat is nasty lookin, but his frazzled fuzzy hair poking out at all angles is strangely the image Emeri is trying to mimic. I mean I understand lil' girls seeing Hollywood images and wanting to look alike, but really Emeri? Guess we'll have to put on more princess Disney movies, and less Star Wars. :)

Newsies
Somehow out of the random assortment of videos Ephraim has seen Newsies has held a consistent favorite spot for quite some time. Maybe he's just a fan of Christian Bale cause he strangely asks to see Little Women a lot as well. The one where Christian Bale is Laurie.
Anyhow we purchased the music to it, cause he would always say "Newsies" when we ask at night what song he wanted us to sing. Cute kid. Anyhow here's a link to a video of him singing along. Holiday's and More
So what can I say I’m a lazy blogger. I love to get on and hear all the wonderful updates of all my friends who blog, but I’m a poor reciprocator of all the fun details of my life. But to get a late post out there and off my mind here are a bunch of pics from Christmas.
We had a Jolly ol’ time back in Utah and Pocatello with family. I had the third family wedding this year with my brother Ammon getting hitched. So my brother’s really were on the ball in 2010. It was a little hectic playing single mommy through those festivities since Adam had to work back in Portland. But lots of anxious aunts and uncles filled in perfectly for an extra helping hand. And it was SOOO nice to have a husband again after 4 days of vacationing without him. Christmas day was spent with the Wadsworth’s and Emeri got spoiled just enough by Grandma and Grandpa that we decided to save our present for her and give it to her in Feb for her birthday. Cheap? Of course...but hello, she’s 10 months old. One new toy is almost too much excitement to handle in and of itself. Both kids also got some authentic silk PJ’s from their aunt and uncle Heidi and Jacob who just returned from China. And Ephraim got a sweet Samari sword to go with his. Since receiving it he’s seen it once and asked to play with it, but since it has a tip that could rival some of our kitchen chef knives I’ve hid it, and he probably won’t appreciate it till he’s 11 or so and I hang it up as a wall decoration. Emeri barely survives his presence as it is.
We also had some family photos taken so we could do our first family New Year letter. Sorry for any readers who didn’t get one, and please enjoy the photo’s here instead.
With the letter came the announcement to many that we are expecting #3. Little Brother is the best guess and he’s due to arrive end of May. We are so excited to add to the fun, joy, and excitement of our little growing family. Oh and did I mention adding a bit more stress, fatigue, and insanity? Yeah we figured we could use a little more of that in our day to day lives as well.
Speaking of insanity my old friend Danelle convinced me that I really need to be a determined mother and get Ephraim potty trained. So starting tomorrow....(I think) we’re gonna give it our best effort. I have been putting it off cause I really don’t want to deal with the clean up. And I adore my little Ephraim. We’re the best of friends, and I can’t imagine this process nourishing our friendship much. So for all those who have embarked this journey and are gun-ho I’m all ears for some serious rah rah pep talks to get me going and trudging through this first and hopefully ONLY attempt to potty train Ephraim.

Thanksgiving and more
So to save the sweat and effort of detailing out the fun Adam and I had this Thanksgiving I'm just going to cut and paste the juicy details that I wrote to my brother Samuel on the mission. So sorry to any of you who don't care for the extra text...just skip and enjoy the couple photos that got taken. Mind you I had planned on taking amazing photos of all the delicious feast, but just as we were about to eat I whip out the camera and the batteries die on me...so we got one shot of the turkey being carved by Adam and the rest got devoured too quickly to make photos worth it.

Ahhh old people, so entertaining! I'm glad you like Grandma J's pic bein with you, I thought it was a cute shot of her. Speaking of her, I made that blasted, SOOOOO fattening fruit salad of hers for Thanksgiving and we've eaten maybe a 10th of it. I'm just hoping it can hold together and look good enough for me to take to our Ward Christmas party this coming Saturday...that way I'll finally get rid of it. Well can you blame me? Thanksgiving is beasty delicious food already and you just have to have your priorities straight. For me smooth creamy mashed potatoes with turkey dripping gravey is always at the top of my list. I've had 2 servings a day for the past 4 days. Well we did cook enough food to feed 10 people comfortably. Oh....you ask how many people we had over? ...um... no one... just us. Hey we tried! We invited like over 6 different people to join our festivities but none of them came through. And we couldn't let that put a damper on our delicious day!!! So here's the menu....Because I know you care. (not)
16 lb Turkey (Sat in a brine over night, and was cooked with apple, cinnamon, thyme, sage aromatics stuffed in its cavity.)
Massive bowl of home made potatoes
Home made stuffing. We let the bread dry out for 3 days and made it with sage sausage, celery, onions...etc (delish)
Yams...Cheryl's way. But not canned, I bought them fresh and baked them, then mixed them with the bacon and onions
Rhodes rolls..the one item we went pre-made on
O.O.C. delicious gravy...I've never made it so good, but I learned meticulous details online that made it divine!
Grandma's fruit salad, P.S. Mom emphasized BIG TIME how important it was that I let the fruit dry out forever, or the juices would cause my whipping cream to liquidize...well I think I got a little over zealous with dehydrating my fruit, cause it looked pulverized! Not good. I'll have to add some fresh stuff if I'm gonna be able to take it to the ward party and ever show my face again!

K about the pies...we made them from scratch the night before, and two pies is a lot for two people to eat, but may I just say that the fact that we didn't make a banana cream pie almost brought Adam to tears. No seriously...and I've never seen him cry. But the reality was we only own two pie pans...so I was barely able to keep one more inch off our fat belly's.
